Wanda Sykes 14 feb 09
Wanda Sykes

Its been a better week for owners of gold and silver despite the turmoil that exists in the financial markets. To put it into perspective and to end the week on a lighter note we turn to actress and comedian Wanda Sykes.

If you have the time this is a two minute video clip of Wanda discussing the government bailout on the Jay Leno Show:

Just click here.

Thanks to Doug for drawing our attention to this piece of comedy it did give us a chuckle or two.

The concept of the poor people bailing out the rich people hasn’t been missed by Wanda who goes on to describe the bailouts as garbage, nothing nebulous there then! Although it is a humorous piece of footage it is also close to the bone in that governments across the globe, not just the American Government, are providing billions in support to enterprises that have wasted what they already had.

A friend of ours came up with a novel suggestion regarding stimulus packages, he thought the cash would be better deployed by giving it to the top 100 successful companies. Imagine what a successful enterprise could achieve with an extra one billion dollars! It would have been interesting to canvass those CEOs and find out just how they would have used the cash, how many new jobs they would create, etc, after all they are good at it.

Got a comment, then fire it in.

Stay tuned folks..

  2. Wanda is very funny Bob, although my connection is a bit slow. In Australia the Govt is giving away a $42Bill stimulus package, outlines at;
    http://www.creditcards.com.au/news/2009/2/5/a-breakdown-of-the-federal-governments-42bn-stimulus-package/

    Included in this is $12.7 Billion just handed out as a “$950 bonus” to a whole range of people. Assuming our population is $21.6Million, I make the $12.7 Billion equate to $588 per head. Did I get that right ?
    Allowing for the many children in Australia, there can not be many adults not getting the $950 bonus. But I sure know two.
    I do not think I have ever seen such mindless squandering of the next generations money for no good purpose, my grandchildren will be paying this off in their taxes for decades.

  3. If the Lib’s want to stimulate the economy, all they need to do is cancel the income tax on everybody’s paycheck.
    That will immediately put extra dollars in everybody’s pockets and cause then to spend again. Guaranteed.
    However, they will never do it because the public will never again allow for their income to be taxed.
